Eye Bank Prepares For 50th Anniversary
Mark your calendar for Saturday March 24,2012, the date of the Florida Lions Eye Bank’s 50th Anniversary celebration
A gala dinner will be held at the Weston Hills Country Club. Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter (and Lion) Karen Taylor-Good is scheduled to perform. Ticket information will be available soon. For more details, call (305) 326-6359 or email info@fleb.org

A Grand Evening at 2011 Installation Dinner
The 2011-12 Florida Lions Eye Bank Officers and Directors were installed in June at Signature Grand in Broward County

Amid purple orchids decorating the room, incoming President Dr. James Brauss and his Board took the oath of office and immediate past president Stacey Jones was honored for his service. Dr. Sander Dubovy was the winner of the Ross Carr Award, presented by Bill Arthur and Diana Castillo accepted the Jimmy Nelson Award for the Lantana Lions Club, presented by Ken Shivel. Attendees enjoyed gourmet cheese appetizers, an auction/raffle and warm Lion fellowship
 
Pearl Goldberg Research Fellowship Awarded
The second Pearl Goldberg Research Fellowship has been awarded to Dr. Noriyuki Unoki
Dr. Unoki graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto University in Japan in 2001 and completed his Ph.D. in medicine at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine in 2010. He gained experience in vitreous surgery at hospitals in Japan and studied retinal vascular biology during his graduate school years. He will be working under Medical Director Sander Dubovy, M.D. on research projects until August 2012.
 
Welcome
The Florida Lions Eye Bank was established in1962 as a non-profit organization to provide donor eye tissue to ophthalmologists for corneal transplantation.  Since then, nearly 40,000 people have received this precious Gift of Sight.  The Eye Bank also maintains a highly regarded pathology laboratory for studying eye disease and also provides resources and tissue for teaching and research.
